Australian actor Chris Hemsworth was recently seen wearing Carrera Sunglasses in a on-set interview for his new movie Rush, due for release in 2013.

The movie, directed by Ron Howard and also starring Olivia Wilde is based on the true story of the legendary sporting rivalry between James Hunt and Niki Lauda during the 1976 Formula One season.  It was a time when men were men and drivers risked their lives for the sport they loved.  Indeed it was a season that almost claimed the life of Niki Lauda who had a terrifying crash at the old Nürburgring in which he was badly burned in the fireball that followed.

Chris Hemsworth's career has sky rocketed recently after appearing in Star Trek, then taking on the title role in the movie Thor and of course this years smash hit Marvel Avengers Assemble.  The Aussie actor will be taking on the role of 1976 British World Champion James Hunt in Rush, and seeing him in these pictures you must admit he looks the part.

Pippa Middleton was lucky enough to get all the perks of being a Royal, without actually being a Royal.  Not only was she seen enjoying the tennis at Wimbledon during the course of the last couple of weeks, but she was privileged enough to also get the best seats in the house – the front row of the Royal Box, right next to sister Kate – The Duchess of Cambridge.

The sisters were lucky enough to enjoy the historic final between Roger Federer and Andy Murray – the first time a British man had reached the final in 74 Years.

The match started in bright sunlight and both Pippa and Kate wore their stylish Givenchy Sunglasses to see Murray win the first set.

The Duchess of Cambridge (above) is not often seen wearing sunglasses out in public and in fact it seems as though she may have borrowed these Givenchy SGV773 sunglasses from her sister Pippa, who had been seen wearing these exact same sunglasses earlier during The Championships (below).

Sadly the sunglasses were not needed for the whole match (unless your name is Victoria Beckham) as the rain came and the roof was closed during the third set and for the remainder of the match.  Federer went on to seal his fate, winning for the 7th time and breaking all records in the process as well as returning to his spot as World Number One. 

But we are very proud of our plucky Brit Andy Murray, who won the hearts of the nation, especially with his emotional speech.  After all, if it was easy, everyone would be doing it and we'd be winning every year.

Have you ever seen anyone looking more bored?  Victoria Beckham ("wot wot") apparently had no interest what so ever in the Wimbledon Men's Final between Andy Murray and Roger Federer on Sunday.  Husband David Beckham on the other hand seem to be having a great time enjoying the tennis, laughing and smiling throughout the match.

Victoria Beckham was clinging to her man like a wet shower curtain during the course of the match and seemed to only be there to promote her own brand of fashion sunglasses and/or clothing.  Even when the rain came during the third set and the roof was closed for the rest of the day she kept her oversized sunglasses firmly attached to her face – probably so no-one could see her dozing off through lack-of-interest.

It's Business Darling

Victoria Beckham was clearly present at the Men's Final for business and PR reasons only.  She had apparently loaned Andy Murray's girlfriend – the lovely Kim Sears a £300 pair of her own aviator sunglasses from the VB Collection to model – knowing that television camera's would be watching Kim's reactions throughout the match.

Kim Sears is fast becoming the nations most well known girlfriend (of sorts) off the back of Wimbledon.  Andy Murray's biggest fan (and girlfriend) has become something of a fashion icon of late.  The world's television cameras were pointed at Kim throughout The Championships as she supported Britain's Andy Murray on his way to an historic Wimbledon Men's Final against Roger Federer.

Apparently demand for the outfit she wore during the final has been incredible with people asking for "The Kim Sears Look".  Her fashion sense this year has put her way ahead even of Victoria Beckham, The Duchess of Cambridge or Pippa Middleton.

Victoria Beckham may have looked bored during the final, but she is a clever business woman, for she knew that all eyes would be on Kim Sears; Victoria Beckham had apparently loaned Kim a £300 pair of aviator sunglasses from her own VB Collection to wear during the match.

Going back to our blog post from 2009, it's clear that Kim is normally a big fan of Ray-Ban sunglasses and is usually seen wearing large aviators or the occasional Ray-Ban Wayfarer.  Take a look at some of these fashionable frames she has sported in the last couple of years on tour.

At the US-Open she wore these huge aviator sunglasses with mirrored lenses – not a look everyone can pull-off, but Kim Sears does it with ease – such is the fashion icon she is now.  That said, it's a shame to hide those beautiful blue eyes of hers.

Katy Perry is a bit of a fashion icon in our eyes, she is often seen wearing many different styles of glasses or sunglasses both in her music videos and in everyday life. She's also one of those very lucky people who looks good in anything (don't you just hate those people)… Katy Perry is not afraid to try all kinds of styles of glasses including Wayfarer's and Clubmasters, but she seems to be owning the Cat's Eye styles all to herself – and why not, she looks great in them.

Lately, we've noticed a bit of an trend in a certain model of Prada sunglasses. I've spotted a few people out and about wearing this model as well as celebrity movie stars such as Dakota Fanning. Could this be a trend started by Fashion Queen Katy Perry earlier this year at the 2012 Paris Fashion Week?

During Paris Fashion Week, Katy Perry was spotted on multiple occasions, at various parties and fashion shows and every time she was wearing something different, even down to the sunglasses. Here (above) she was seen wearing a pale blue long satin coat, pleated pink dress and and striking long blue ponytail at the Miu Miu Fashion Show in April 2012. We thought her choice of Prada sunglasses here were perfect for the outfit she was wearing at the time.

In Paris Fashion Week, love rat Kristen Stewart puts the skates on her vampire cred with John Lennon style glasses.

Also during Paris Fashion Week, Katy Perry goes ice-blue during one of her many appearances. We love the way her sixties’ bouffant hairstyle sets off her Audrey Hepburn glasses perfectly well.

Salma Hayek

Salma Hayek looks fabulous in terracotta, but we are more enamoured of her sixties-inspired cat-eyed sunglasses. We might be prejudiced, but we think that she could probably get away with the librarian look with these cat-eyed sunglasses by Tom Ford.

John Rochas

From the sixties, we move on to the seventies, with John Rochas and his owlish, thick-rimmed glasses, although we're not sure if this will catch on.

Dior Homme

Proving that fashion is not just about women, Paris Men’s Fashion Week did not disappoint, with a fine range of sunglasses for men. Kris Von Assche, the designer for Dior Homme, featured military-inspired coats and glasses as seen in this video.

Prada Men

Prada did not disappoint either, with its stunning array of glasses that range from the playful to the practical. Prada’s catwalk models featured Gary Oldman, Adrien Brody and Willem Dafoe in fabulous overcoats.

Twilight star Dakota Fanning may still be only 18 years old but the young actress isn't afraid to be a bit brave when it comes to fashion. She has been regularly seen wearing the same Prada Sunglasses as Katy Perry – albeit in a different colour.

Lenny Kravitz was out Christmas shopping in New York this week, wearing a hat, sunglasses and scarf and looking all fashionable and what-not. Who says you can't wear sunglasses in Winter, when the sun is low in the sky?

Lenny's Aviator Sunglasses

It's a little tricky to positively ID the aviator sunglasses that Lenny Kravitz is wearing here.  Although they look similar to the Ray-Ban RB3025, it's hard to see the Ray-Ban logo on the top of the lens which is usually a dead giveaway.

It's possible that the lenses have been replaced with prescription sunglasses lenses, or they could be a different brand altogether such as Oliver Peoples, Tom Ford or Mosley Tribes.

The Beat Generation and Existentialism:

The Seagull play is set in Chekhovian times but theatre producer Charmaine Hawthorne and her Carol & Maude company have imaginatively set the play against a backdrop of 1950s themes that include subculture, aka the Beat Generation. 

For those of us that are less familiar with the works of Anton Chekhov, The Seagull is considered to be one of Chekhov’s first four major plays.  The Russian dramatist wrote this play in 1895 and it was first produced in 1896.  

The theme also draws on  the subsequent rise and fall of the teen and the philosophical movement of Existentialism which emphasizes on an individual's existence, freedom and choice – meaning the responsibility and consequences of one’s actions.  Not only does this ambitious play succeed but it also seamlessly blends the classical disciplines of realism and the new wave of fine art and fashion. This is Carol & Maude’s first feature length production and it has been sponsored by the Arts Council England, MACH and Your Leisure.  

The Seagull runs from Thursday 6th February until the 9th.
